Wine and Food Harmony is an Eminent Part of the Meal for Full Enjoyment of Your Dining Experience

Throughout History, Mankind has made wine in a Natural Atmosphere, using all available gifts of Mother Nature dating back as far as five thousand years. Wine has always been regarded as a sacred, civilized, romantic mealtime accompaniment and looked at more as a food itself, rather than an alcoholic beverage.

We here at Tavern on the Hill totally agree with this principal and regard wine as an essential accompaniment to our Fine Dining Atmosphere. The marriage of Food and Wine has become an artistic expression and an extreme importance to fully enjoying the epicurean delights created in the kitchen.

Upon reading our Wine List, you will notice that it is fully divided by Countries of the world and then by regions, district or grape variety. We also include an index and our Sommelier’s personal rating system, in order to assist you in finding your selection as easily and smoothly as possible. We have a large selection of major region wines, plus many smaller country products and at times encourage you to experiment with these selections in order to broaden your horizon.

In order to assist you in your ultimate harmony selection may we recommend a light wine with a light meal, and a fuller bodied wine with a hearty meal. If your planning on having more than one wine with your meal, may we recommend starting with the lightest selection and working your way up to a hearty, full bodied wine. If you have decided to only have one wine for the evening, the wine should complement your entrée. If you cannot decide on which wine to have, feel free to ask our Certified Sommelier for assistance, as he is totally familiar with the food served at our establishment and which wines best compliment each course.

To ensure that you enjoy the maximum quality of our fine wines, all of our selections are served and cellared at proper temperature and humidity. We also strive to use the finest glassware and crystal in order to make your selection fully enjoyable to its full potential, plus we will aerate and decant wines as needed to make them fully pleasurable.
